Thermage® is one of many non-invasive procedures that may be commonly offered by dermatologists. It was created to help tone and tighten sagging facial and neck skin, as well as to ease wrinkles and fine lines. Thermage® may also be used to address specific areas, including the body, lips, hands and eyes. Thermage® is marketed by dermatologists and other healthcare providers under a variety of names, including the following: Lips by Thermage®, Hands by Thermage®, Eyes by Thermage® and ThermaCool. This procedure has not been highly rated on consumer sites, which we believe may be due to issues regarding cost, pain and results. Some consumers report that they did not get the results they expected, while others who did see some results suggested that the cost was not worth the gains.

HoodiaBites
HoodiaBites is one product we can get very excited about. This chewable form of 500mg of pure Hoodia features a great flavor and is by design, ultra portable! HoodiaBites are said to be very much like a candy and the makers use one of the highest concentrations of the Hoodia Cactus we have seen. One of the advantages to chews is the fact that may feel it is a more direct way for absorption. Additionally, the idea of being able to snack on a chew, at anytime, is more pleasing than just taking another diet capsule. The chewable bites are described as similar in texture to taffy and provide lasting natural appetite suppression. We were pleased to find that each chew is only a few calories and can be taken throughout the day to curb hunger on any diet. The product has done very well on the blogs and many are talking about the immediate effects and good taste. Read a Full review of HoodiaBites here.

Monica: As much as I liked the idea of a non-invasive procedure, Thermage did not deliver the results I expected. IT looked pretty good right afterwards but after a couple of weeks it was sagging again. For the time & money, I wouldn't have this done again.

Beth: I had Thermage done on my face and arms and honestly, I don't think I would do it again. I didn't really see much of a difference the first day or after three weeks. Maybe in the future the technology will be better but for now I am over procedures of this sort.

Alexis: I liked the idea of Thermage because it wasn't surgical...I thought maybe it would be the ideal solution for me bcs a lot of the creams cause me to breakout. It was expensive (cost me about $2,000 all told), and it really didn't work as well as i expected. I didn't think there was a lot of improvement in my elasticity and yet it caused my skin to look shiny in a fake way. I was disappointed in this.

Kimberly: So I'm really thinking about getting Thermage, my dermatologist loves it, my plastic surgeon not so much, and I don't like the idea of having to wait six months to see results, I mean I want them NOW, esp. for 3 thousand dollars, but have any of you had it yet? Does it really work? Seems so magical, but I want to hear some first hand stories.

Kelly_FL: I spent over $2000.00 for this procedure to be done, the result was extremely disappointing, I look older than before and it was very painful!

Heidi: As of now I am still undecided about Thermage. I know its pretty pricey but am not sure how frequently the treatments need to be done? I'm still trying to gather my facts about this one, any tips would be much appreciated thanx.

Lydia: Thermage a) burned a little and b) did not make me look younger or my skin appear smoother or anything. I think I might have another thing like an injection instead.

Deborah: I LOVE Thermage! I got it about 3 weeks ago, and I swear, the difference is amazing. I went to a place in Orlando FL and they do the whole treatment in just one day, and you walk out of the office looking a bit on the tight side, but that's what I was after for heaven's sakes and so would never complain, and now it's loosened up a bit and looks fantastic! Very natural, very easy, no down time. Do it again in 5 years if I need to...

Lorraine: I agree with the person who said that the results were too short-lived with Thermage. For the price i paid i would have expected more of a lasting toning effect, especially around my jawline. But i got only a minimal result in that area of my face and then the skin got loose and jowly again.

Darlene: I had Thermage done about a month and a half ago and I think I like it...a slight improvement. It was expensive and I want to keep my (facial) skin looking as good as possible and so I was looking online for a really good night cream or moisturizer. I don't want to waste all the money I spent. Thanks!

Jessica: Ladies, you have to be careful where you have the procedure done! It's the same as going to a plastic surgeon, find somebody with a good rep, and you'll get great results. I did, and no scars, which is a huge plus in my book.

Charlotte_NewJersey: Thermage is way over rated and I really had hight hope it will make the skin under my neck tighten, especially considering how much the treatment cost. I do not recommend it at all, you can see a bit of an improvement but then it completely fades way.

Kim: YEah, i didn't get the "plumping" effect I was looking for with Thermage. I was thinking about a dermal filler or something with Collagen. Is there any good face cream that helps fill in the wrinkles? That's what I need.

Diana: HOw often are you supposed to get these treatments done?

Victorie: Hmm, I was somewhat skeptical but the Thermage procedure seemed very reasonable and I got the green light from my dermatologist. It's hard to believe a medical professional would sign off on a procedure that isn't 100% good news but I really don't think it is worth the money at this time. There are many other things I would have tried first if this had not been kind of forced on me. I guess I need to do more real research and not just believe the hype.

Opal: The treatment is expensive & painful, but I thought Thermage was worht it. It helped tighten the skin around my jawline and on the neck, where it was really loose before. IF you can afford it, do it.

Angela: I'm 60 years old, want my chin and neck back, tried Thermage, big ZERO and a LOT of money! Going to have to go the traditional knife route, but I hear that's better too? Who's got the latest on the mini lower face lift?

Alice: Do not waste your money on Thermage! I did and I regret it, the result is barely noticeable and the burnings are just not acceptable for today's technology.

Theresa: My skin was irritated for a week after I had Thermage. Then it started looking better, buit in a couple weeks it went back to being saggy and loose. So i feel like i only had a brief period of time when it was actually looking good. I just can't afford to pay that much for such minimal results.

Melissa: I want to try the Thermage for cellulite. Anybody done that one yet?

Jenn: I agree with someone else who said that you have to find a reputable Dr. I did and I was very pleased with the result. The only down size is that it does not last as long I would want it to.

Marsha: I read that the results of the Thermage treatment last up to six months but for me it wasn't even six weeks. I was disappointed to say the least. Actually I was livid. I expected it to be better and it was just not what it should be. Now I don't know what to do...

Sheryl: What do the Thermage body treatments do? Would they tighten my upper arms? I really really NEED that.

Annabelle: I wasn't real pleased but I guess I got about what I deserved for getting Thermage. Not that you shouldn't try to look pretty but my mother always taught me I should age gracefully so maybe I should try harder at that.

Victoria_PA: I had Thermage done around my eyes and forehead and even though I so an improvement it didn't last. I am glad at least I didn't pay $3000 but $1600.

Amy: Fraxel is WAY better than Thermage. REally gets right down to it, is about the same price, but works MUCH better!

lauren: Well, I paid $1,400 for my treatment on my jaw and neck area which are very VERY saggy and flabby, and the results were OK at first, def. a bit tighter, but they were basically gone within a month. They say its supposed to last like 6 months but it was much less than that.

Angela T.: Well, I almost had this done on my stomach to tone up the loose skin that appeared after my third pregnancy but saw a lot of neg comments from people who'd done the Thermage procedure on that area. I got the Flex Belt instead and absolutely love it hwww.theflexbelt.com/testimonials i am still trying to decide if I want to have this done on my eyes & cheeks, might keep on searching.

Rebecca: Everyone knows: YOU HAVE TO SUFFER TO BE BEAUTIFUL! Thermage was so worth it to me...

Cara: I had Thermage on my Thighs and Buttocks and I was happy at first ... but now those areas seem to me to look worse then ever. I don't know if I just was used to the back of my legs and butt looking tighter and firmer but now they seem flabbier, fleshier and have more cellulite. I don't know it is the aftermath of the procedure or what but I would not do it again.

Brooke: Hey, how much can you expect? I think Thermage is an improvement over the way my skin looked before and the face lifts and such that make last generations women look ridiculous. It is getting better so I am pretty content.

Virginia: I'm sticking with injectables, have an appt. next week with my plastic surgeon for the lines around my mouth and some that have popped up on my chin! go figure! and I know it will work WAY better than Thermage, and doesn't cost anywhere near the money...must remember to take my Arnica for the bruising possibilities...

VPierce: Can't complain about this at all, my acne prone skin has cleared up really well after the Thermage. For years I've had huge fat pimples on my chin, around my nose and on the jawline. Now they are smaller and usually go away within 2-3 days, its great.

Lilly Rose: I'll stick to my $40 anti-wrinckle cream in the future it does as well if not better for my wrinkles. Can't believe I spent 2500 on Thermage. Ridiculous.

Emily: Even with taking some rx pain pills before the Thermage procedure, I found it painful, and the burns on my face have left scars. To make matters even worse, it didn't last as long as i had hoped. I would not go this route again.

Joanna: HI I live in Colorado and can't seem to find any doctors that do Thermage. Does anyone know of one, thanks.

Jenny: What about pain? I really am a scaredy cat and I have no tolerance for pain. Is Thermage painful like a bee sting or like a steam burn? Thanks, J

Paul: Can a man do it or is our skin to thick for that? Thanks ladies.

Courtney: Hey, Angela, thanks for link to FlexBelt, I just looked at it, I could def use this. And, btw, try using Hydroleyes for your eyes before Thermage, bcs the results didn't last very long for me at least. I've been using this for about 2 months and the lines are disappearing. I get it from here http://www.hydroleyes.com/

Jeanine: Thermage was not bad but I just can't afford $2000 every 6 months. It wasn't worth that much.

Rachel: Lilly Rose, you mentioned a $40 wrinkle cream that works...what is the name of that? Thanks , Rachel

Georgia: I had hoped Thermage would lighten the C section scars on my tummy and it did nothing basically. Thumbs down.

Kenza: My husband got me the package as a 50th B-day present (I asked for ir) and now he feels horrible about it simply because my skin after 7 months look worse than at the beginning of the treatment. It was my first time trying some type a "serious" treatment and definately the last.

Erica: Had 3 eye treatments of Thermage done, did not see ANY CHANGES in my skin. Not worth the $2800 spent.

Valerie: I had burn marks around my eyes with THermage. My skin there is very sensitive , it was NOT good.

Sherry: I have heard that some people have Botox in their armpits and I don't understand why they would do that. Thermage is the same? Sorry I am not very up on my beauty trends as I have busy with three kids for the past few years. I was here at this site trying to find a beauty cream and any other information I can gather in a hurry would be helpful.

Wendy_Chicago: I heard about Hydroleyes on the radio, was not sure it was good or not, it definately sounded like what I need for under my eyes. Likewise, I had a bad experience with Thermage and want to stay away from that type of treatment from now on. Thanks for the tip about the cream.

Kathleen: So this Thermage is a laser, right? Is it the same thing that they call the "cool laser"? And if that's so, why are people ending up getting burned? Want to hear more about this before I decide whether I'm going to do it or not.

Claudia: I had mine done in Venezuela, much cheaper than here in the US. Still I have to say the result are way too insignificant to justify the pain and even though I paid much less than I would have here it still remains an expensive treatment.

Brio: In a few weeks I am scheduled to have thermage on my face as I am a volunteer at a seminar. The cost is $0. However, after reading all of the negative comments on this site, I am thinking of backing out of being a volunteer. This site has a few positive comments and lots of negative comments. For those of you that have had thermage on your face - should I back out? After reading everything, I am seriously concerned about the pain, the chance of burns on my face, etc.

felicia: i heard somebody at my Salon talking about Thermage and decided to go for it for my 44th birthday.....like one of you, I paid close to $3,000 for a serious of eye treatments...and I have to say, the results were lacking. i was disappointed, not worth it.

Helen: I was thinking about Thermage, but after reading these blogs I've decided to go with Bellaplex. Has anyone used this? Could you please bog your experience. Thanks

Shelly G.: Hi Helen, well, I've done Thermage (on my thighs) and it was okay, but the treatments really are expensive, and painful as described. I wanted to have my face done but decided to see what else was out there- something that wouldn't cause scarring. I use Bellaplex now & think its a really decent skin cream. Keeps my skin soft & hydrated, and i noticed the fine lines erasing after about 3 weeks or so. I've been using it now for 4 months and people actually compliment my skin! Its quite flattering, to have waitresses or women at the gym asking me what i do. If you're considering it, I say give it a try. GOod luck.

Marie: Don't waste your money, totally did not work and was painful and expensive

Maggie: I am so glad to know I am not the only foolish woman out there that tried this! I really did no research on this procedure but went on the recomendation of a friend (she had not had this procedure done). The consultant who performed this procedure said it would feel "like a rubberband pop" but this is DEFINITELY NOT the feeling I got! It was very painful and I have bruising on my face, especially on my cheek bones. I had it done 4 days ago and my face is still so swollen I don't believe I will be able to go to work tomorrow. So much for "no down time". Two days after the procedure I went back to the facility where I had this done to ask about resulting swelling and bruising (I looked like a Cabbage Patch doll) and the person who did my treatment was concerned about the swelling and said she had never had anyone swell that much. She asked the owner of the facility about starting me on steroids but they were reluctant to do that because they said it would interfere with the results. I asked for the RX anyway but have not started it yet. I am doing everything I can to try to get some benefit from this painful and expensive lesson. I was also told that this treatment was a one time treatment and that I would not need it again. Now I'm reading from many of you that this only lasts 6 months--I don't think I will be healed up in 6 months. How many "zaps" are in a normal treatment? After I returned with my questions I learned that I had 900! Is this normal? Do I have any legal recourse because I can't see any reduction in wrinkles.

Liz: Oh, make no mistake, Thermage hurts much worse than a rubber band snap and leaves you swollen and uncomfortable for days. And the final insult is that it doesn't WORK. And oh my goodness, Maggie, 900 zaps does not seem normal to me, but who knows with this procedure??? I can't say for sure about what your rights might be legally, but you may as well look into it. As for me, I'm just staying away from this and telling everyone i know to do the same.

June: I spent about $2,200 on full-face and neck thermage. The doctor at the skin enhancement center said some very good things about it, and did say at times it doesn't work well for everyone, but she spoke more of the positive and was encouraging, so I did it. I am not a rich person, and for me that was a lot of money (to have to pay on each month). It was a waste of that money. It even seemed I had dark circles within a week or two after that I had thermage done, as if there's a thinning of the sensitive skin right under the eye. Because I was not pleased, on her own, she did more thermage with a smaller device right under my eyes and think that might have helped a little. Not considerably, because no one has noticed. She said she noticed a little difference in jaw line but since they didn't take follow-up pictures I can't tell and noone else seems to have noticed. You shouldn't have to look that hard for that kind of money anyway. Please.....save your money!

Susan: I am so shocked to read so many negative remarks concerning thermage, I perform this procedure several times a week and have outstanding results with my clients, it may be that whoever is doing the procedure is not following protocol or that the client is not really a good candidate. The fact is that thermage takes about six months to see the full effect and monthly follow up and photos should be taken to keep an accurate record of improvement, the skin tightens first then new collagen will rebuild to replace the denatured. Burns can only be caused by not cleaning the skin correctly, not using enough coupling fluid or treatment levels being to high. We are very aware of making sure we can meet client expectations and will often have two consultations before going ahead with this procedure. By making sure the client understands this is not a facelift but a fantastic way to tighten and freshen skin that has laxity. I dont recommend thermage for anyone that has deep wrinkles to their face and neck. I am sorry that so many of you have been dissapointed with your treatment shame you didn't come to my clinic, also many of you have mentioned how painful the procedure was, all I can say is that with the new fast tips and the fact that I use maximun number of pulses I am able to keep the treatment levels down to a very tolerable level and still get excellent results.

alexis: That is correct, Thermage is not ideal for those with deep wrinkles in the face and neck. I think a good deal of the problem here is client expectations. As for pain, a skilled practitioner should be able to deliver the treatment without pain.

simone: Well THANK YOU for clearing this up! I was under the misconception that Thermage COULD help with my deep facial wrinkles (and my Thermage technician was more than happy to confirm that belief and do the treatment on me anyway!). I wish I had come to this site sooner, i could have saved myself time, money and aggravation. I've heard about a good system called Hydroxatone which helps to plump and smooth wrinkles topically. Its rated very highly, i might give that a try. Thanks for the information! I especially appreciate your input, Susan...it's good to hear about how this procedure should work, from an ethical practitioner. Mine was not.

Lucy: I have only had Thermage a few days ago, and have been told by the doctor not to expect any results for between two and six months. However, I did not find the treatment painful, other than a very occasional twinge. In fact, it felt quite nice at times.

susan: Hello Kathleen, no Thermage is not laser, thermage is monopolar radio frequency that reaches that safely reaches the lowest layer of skin while the outer layers are protected with a cooling system and an applied coupling fluid, please do some more research before you decide. I;m very concerned also for Felicia who wrote she was given a series of treatments for eyes, this is not correct and I would be very suprised if the clinic were in fact using thermage, the eye protocol is to insert an occular shield in each eye and pulse the eyelid with a specially designed tip, remove the occulars and then use approx 150 pulses around the orbit each eye. Paul.... big yes it can be done on men and I have found them to be very good responders if they are suitable to have the treatment. Thankyou Alexis for your backup and once again all I can say is that not everyone is suitable to have Thermage, I am very concientious of client expectations and as a professional value my reputation. Simone sorry to hear of your bad experience , perhaps you could look at having fillers such as Radiesse or Juvederm or even Perlane , all are injectables and give good results, also some IPL will help to even out skin tone . Good luck everyone

margaret: Well, Susan, its nice that you are disseminating information about Thermage, but ....wouldn't you say you have a vested interest in getting people to have this done? This is what you do for a living, from what i gather, and therefore you are essentially advertising on this forum, which is meant only for consumer opinions and feedback. No offense to you, but this is not free advertising space, and it might confuse consumers to read this type of promotion for Thermage and think it is one of their peers talking.

Mar P: I am considering Thermage on my abdomen first and even went to a local clinic who does this procedure. I am in excellent shape and I was told that I am a good candidtate (I work out every day and have a very healthy diet) ant that I should see good results for a small amount of loose skin below my navel. Has anyone had this procedure for this area of the body? and did you see good results?

susan: Well, Margaret, I would really like to know if you have had this procedure done? and as you say , no offence but I think having some intelligent input would be so beneficial to the women who appear to have been mislead in regard to this procedure. I also see that links and advice has been given in regard to certain products ....... is this ok with you ? make no mistake I do NOT use this as a platform to promote Thermage..... seems to me that it is alright to thumbs down .... little contrived would you say

Rachel: well all this back-and-forth arguing seems to negative, let's move on! i did not have pain or any of that with Thermage. BUT the main problem was i, too, was hoping it would work for my substantial furrows on my forehead and nasal labial folds and it simply didn't. Now i see its not even supposed to . That was my fault, i should havae done my research! But now the rest of you can read and learn. Good luck, and lets all try to cheer up! :)

connie: I got a series of Thermage eye treatments that cost more than $2,000....i had a lot of hope that it would really improve the look of the crows feet and just the loose skin around that area. I have to say that while it may have helped a little bit, it didn't do anything dramatic. I was disappointed.

Susan: Hello Connie, please let me know what you mean by a series of eye treatments, I would be very interested to know why you had to have (series) My treatment in the eye area only took one, and had a great result.

Connie: Hi, Susan, It was explained to me that while 1 treatment was sufficient for some, more dramatic results (tightening, reduction of hooding, etc). could be achieved with repeat Thermage treatments. They said that gravity would still continue to work against my skin no matter how good the results were. So I scheduled 3 successive treatments since my center was offering special pricing. And although there was some result, I didn't see the total change I was hoping for.

Lorraine: well I had only 1 Thermage Treatment, and that is all i will EVER have. It was highly unpleasant and never did a thing.

kathryn: I am just concerned because what is the long-term safety data on Thermage? I know its supposed to be safe, but sometimes some of these new technologies haven;t been done long enough to really know for sure, and then 10 years later you hear everyone's getting cancer. susan, you seem extremely knowledgeable about Thermage, do you have this information:? I mean i would like to see actual scientific abstracts if available, thx.

julie: Hi Kathryn, Thats a good question. And even though you didn't ask me, I did look around for long term safety info for THermage. From what i was able to determine, they don't know yet how safe this radiofrequency technology is in the long term. I find that to be somewhat concerning. I may wait for more scientiifc data to become available on this.

kate: THErmage, it didn't seem to last as long as i had hoped. I thought i might get a full year out of it but my skin started looking looser as soon as 2 mos out. I don't know it seemed quite expensive for such a temporary result.

sally: I am 50 yrs. old, My dr. suggested Termage for my legs & thighs, said Cool lipo or liposelect would not work. I have done alot of reading and I have not heard of it being used for legs or thighs. Susan have you heard, and what is your suggestion for flabby, cellute legs? You would think w/ the tech. these days there would be an answer for this problem many ladies seem to have.

Jill: I've had Thermage done once a year for the last 4 years and it costs me 1500 Canadian dollars. I get full face and neck which is 600 zaps/pulses. An ink grid is placed on your face and neck first so the practitioner can see exactly what he/she is doing. In my opinion, Thermage is fantastic and at my last procedure my doctor told me that my skin is getting very thick because the collagen building has a cumulative effect. I wasn't aware of this until I was told but of course that makes me very happy. It's more of a maintenance procedure than a drastically changing procedure. What it does or has done on me is literally stop the aging process on my face but to get good results you have to be a good candidate for the procedure. I had mild acne scars under my ear on my neck and now they are on the side of my ear at the back of my jaw so I KNOW my skin has been lifted, but as I said...I've had 4 treatments, and plan on having as many as necessary to maintain the results. Another thing I'd like to mention is that the amount of time between treatments is getting longer probably because of the cumulative effect of my body making more collagen. I LOVE Thermage.

Cindy: I had thermage last april. It was $2200. and I don't see any results at all. I'm 51 and more wanted some changes around my mouth. I don't see any difference and it's been 8 months. Even the spa had a hard time seeing results, but of course they saw some. I did not.

Monica: Results were very minimal, and thats pretty disappointing for the amount of money I invested in Thermage. And now that I've lost so much money from my 401k, I'm even more upset that i wasted a few grand on THermage. These days, a decent $80 antiwrinkle treatment like Bellaplex is the way to go for me & my budget. And I can see the changes in just a month already too.

marla: I had the procedure done as part of an ani-aging pkg. in Mi.chg.$2900.00 for face thermage,4 ipl(?) laster tx,4 chem.peels(not txasbut went due to a enticing tv ad.performed by a wide assortment of nurseaids trained by mfg.reps, not a good thing & asked for reimbursement but the MD said no.I am very upset, cheated and mislead.

salena: I will be 43 in Feb. I have been thinking and researching thermage since i was 40. The Dr.s say I am the ideal age for the optimal result!! I read more negative relsults than positive,I'm not convinced, I just want to be the girl who has the same flawes we all do, but be so confindent in my own skin that I'm beautiful anyway!!

Iris: A local doctor is advertising a "Dream Lift" consisting of Thermage and CO2 resurfacing. Has anyone heard of this combination?

Kristen: Sorry Iris I have not heard of that. I have however tried the eye lift procedure from Thermage and do not feel it was worth the money. They swear it looked better but I think they just want my money. My husband didn;t notice (not surprising) but neither did my sister and she notices everything. I actually got a better deal, I feel, with Hydroleyes eye cream. No more lines or circles, my husband even noticed "somethng was different." Should've avoided the treatment altogether.

Nancy: Has anyone had this procedue done at truemd in lakeland floridaand how was your results?

DG Avery: I had the Thermage treament over 3 years ago when the system first arrived in the UK. I had an instant response which was fantastic. I went out to dinner with friends that night and they kept saying how well/good I looked. Had I lost weight, had my hair done etc. Eventually I told them and the women all booked to get it done. My 'instant' facelift is still looking good but maybe I will need a refresher treatment this year. Hardley any pain just a sensation of heat and then it is gone as soon as it is there because of the cooling affect which happens as soon as the handpiece is used. Definitely recommend this but of course it does depend on your skin type and damage. I also think people have high expectation that they will look 20 again but that is never going to happen even with surgery!

Kathryn: So far, no good. My dermatologist said that I was a very good candidate for Thermage because I have good general skin tone and good underlying structure. I had the procedure done two weeks ago on my lower face and neck. I still have a raw feeling around the base of my neck, but no burns. The big problem is numbness on the right side of my jawline that extends under my jaw bone. The skin in the numb area is sagging and looking lopsided, so much so that I've been asked "what happened" to me. The doctor says that all of this is not abnormal and everything will be fine in a few weeks. Is the lack of feeling really going to go away, or have I paid $2300 to allow someone do permanent damage to me?

Sherry: Hi Iris, I haven't had the combo, but I did have CO2 laser done around my eyes. I was 41 at the time and had a lot of crepiness and some laxity. I thought I needed an eyelift, but was told definitely not. The CO2 results were amazing. I repeat, amazing. I couldn't go any where for 5 days or so without dark glasses, and I felt badly that my family had to look at me:( Unfortunately after 18 months I was back where I started. However, a few months ago,I tried using Micro Retin A again, and have again gotten amazing results. I discontinued it before, because of the redness, flakiness and discomfort. Now I use tiny daps and blend well. Use once per day in the evening. Sometimes I get drastic peeling and know I've over done it. I simply use less and always use major moisturizer and drink lots of water. (I'm using Patricia Wexler moisturizer from Bath and Body Works. I love her Intensive 3 in one eyecreme.) The trick to Retin A is to not discontinue use, just cut back to a 1/2 a dab. If you stop, you'll break the skin shedding cycle and will need to go through the cycle all over again. Please realize you're going to start peeling in 3 or so days and you will have to deal with the flaking. I minimize it by using the the Oil of Olay cleansing cloths for combination skin (and sometimes tweezers). They have texture that helps remove the flakes. I'll be 46 in May and always get guessed at early to mid 30's. I don't use foundation, just Lancome concealer to even it up. Find a doc to write the script for you. I use .04 in the grey tube and I have very sensitive skin. Always ask for the .45 gram tube and it will last up to a year or more. Costco has a great price and I believe it was $90. I should mention that I was curious about the Thermage for my body. After 3 pregnancies over 12 years, with a weight gain (and loss) of 76-80 lbs each time I have lot's of loose skin, cellulite and stretch marks on my legs. I had a tummy tuck and breast lift, after the 3rd child 14 years ago, with great results and continued satisfaction(size 4/6). If I never have great legs, so be it. We can't have it all, now can we?

Karen: I had Thermage done yesterday. I am amazed at the result. Work was done on my jaw line, neck and upper face. It was a painful procedure, however, I think it is worth it. I can see a definite difference. It was expensive, but I will have it done again in a year or so.

Evelyn Norse: Thermage is VERY PAINFUL, I had this done last year and the results I got were very very subtle. Sure it helped some, but was not worth the high price tag in the least. I guess (unfortuantely) not everyone has success with this procedure. I really didn't think it could not work, but after 2 days, I couldn't even see that anything had changed. ANd no one else commented either. My skin has done better with Bellaplex, and using this cream is cheapre and pain free. I've been using it daily for two months and can see a reductioin in the lines & wrinkles already, even my daughter has asked if I;m having work done. ANd now I sure as heck wish I never woulda wasted my time & $$$$ on Thermage.

Sally: I had thermage done on my legs and I can't get over how amazing the results are. Not too painful. Did have a great dr. Cellulite and sagging reduced by an amazing amount. I'm really surprised at all these negative comments. I'm hooked.

diane: Well, everyone is different, and so not everyone will get the same results, no matter what procedure we're talking about. I'm not surprised that some people like Thermage, or that some did not. I paid $2,400 for my procedure on 2/10 of this year, and i must say i experienced quite a bit of discomfort, even pain. i was able to manage that with some meds. But the most disappointing thing is that i didn't notice any tightnening of the very loose skin on my face, or any lifting of the browline, which is very saggy. After having no result, the practitioner who did the prodrure told me that it was probably because my skin is thick, that "thick skinned" people tend to get a less desirable result than thin skinned. i do wish she had said so before. so i would say for those of you who have thick skin, this is not for you. unfortunately, i never knew my skin was thick. I just knew i didn't like the way it looked. i still don't, $2,000 later.

cathy: Thank You everyone for taking the time to write. You saved me a lot of hard earned money - thermage

scared: i had a thermage procedure and did not notice a great deal of improvement (yes it was painful!). So i went back for a second about 6-8 months later. It was done in the same office (of a board cert. plastic surgeon). Much more painful that the first time but i figured it might be worth it. My neck area became very swollen and jowel-like. That lasted about 2-3 weeks. Then my face became very sunken and gaunt. I had never had dark circles under my eyes and now i had them (very noticeable). Finally the doctor actually offered to perform lower eye surgery free of charge to help correct what had occurred. Thankfully that helped but i literally had to go through a plastic surgery to correct what had happened. The whole point was to have a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure! My eyes are much better, but my neck area skin is still looser than before. I was lucky to have had a doctor who was a generous and honest as he. Good luck to you all. i hope you have a more positive experience than i did.

Cherise S: I am finding out thermage, good to read your comments and experience. can a nurse perform thermage? I heard at a clinic in Australia, it was an experienced nurse perform not the doctor who is the face of the clinic in the advertisement.

cathy: I had face and neck Thermage Treatment in March 2008. In the chin area below my right ear, I was given a painful shock during treatment; that pain is still there now a year later. My primary care physician ordered an MRI. Fortunately, nothing was found. My face looks the same. Thermage is not worth the money and pain.

Pat: I had thermage done 3 years ago and did not find it uncomfortable. I was given a mild sedative which made me very relaxed. I paid $3200 for face and neck and was very pleased with the results. I found this site while looking for another treatment center so I can have it done again. Love it and the results.

Dan: My doctor told me that I would see results in about 6 months after my thermage treatment. He said that it takes that long because it tightens the collagen underneath the outer layer skin. I had it done on my face and I didn't see any differnece in the appearance of my face at all, even 6 months later. I would not recomend this proceedure at all. Maybe my doctor was not trained on how to do it properly or maybe the proceadure doesn't work at it is advertised. Be careful and don't waste your money.

maew: In thailand it costs about 2000 baht or $60 per treatment. Staff in the clinic did it for me. I was 36 and i saw the dramatic result right away. I was so excited that i looked 20 again so i dragged my mom (who was 61) to the clinic to buy the whole package-7 treatments for $350 -its a lot in our country. It did nothing to my mom's face and neck except super pain. After the first treatment she won't do it again. So i got the rest of my mom's treatment, yippee yey ps. pardon my English

Elizabeth: Well, thank you all for your postings... I do NOT have deep lines, but I have a big birthday coming up (49!) and I need a lift (literal and figurative!) I am having the thermage on my face and neck area, a little botox (which I've had before and love) and Juvederm (which I have also had - and the results lasted a year! Plus I like this filler much more than Restylane, which goes in bumpy). $2100 for the total package (with an extra facial thrown in, the spring special). Someone once told me the time to have a procedure was just before everyone thinks you need it! I'll post my results -- which I hope will be not that I look 10 years younger than I already do, but that I look like I've been on the world's best vacation!

Jessica: We have had great success with Thermage at our office. It is helpful to research the Dr. before you make a decision. See "what to know before you go".

Sharon: I have had thermage three times in the last six years. I am scheduling another treatment in a few weeks. I am thrilled with my results over the last few years. I have my dad's jowls and at 55 they were making me look very old. The thermage has really eliminated them, and people are amazed when I mention that my age is 62. I understand that this is not an "immediate gradification" procedure and I know from my own experience that it literally does take 6 months for me to see the best results, although my skin is much better right after the procedure. I have signed up for the "eye" theramge this time. I have had ocular surgery several years ago and have a silicone band on one of my eyes (retina tear). I have been told the eye thermage will not harm this band, but does anyone have further information? Susan? Regardless of the eyes though, I am definitely having the full face and neck done again. It has really made a difference in my life,,, and here in Colorado the price is doable for a average person.

tammy: i am a medical aesthetician and have performed over 200 thermage procedures. You do have to be very careful as to who is doing your treatment.I was trained under the supervision of a plastic surgeon and although results vary i would have to say 75% of my patients are pleased w/ the results, there are alot of places out there that outright lie about the results pre treatment and i have had it done and yes in certain areas can be very painfull, the best way to get a good result unfortunatly is to be able to take a high energy level during treatment.I also agree it does not last as long as some clinical directors and doctors say it does. Do your homework and make sure you are speaking to a doctor and not a fake in a white lab coat, i have seen it way to many times in my career good luck

Cheryl: I have recently had the Thermage treatment and after 2 weeks I am seeing improvement in my face eyes and neck. I also have been getting comments at work from that my skin looks improved, I am very excited to see more improvements as the weeks go on.

Thermage®

Skin aging is a very real issue for many people, as they get older. Some individuals opt to use advanced skincare products that may be able to help restore Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid production, which may help prevent and reduce sagging, wrinkles and fine lines. In fact, some of these products are highly effective due to advancements in technology and ingredients. However, some people may feel more comfortable using services provided by dermatologists and skincare professionals. Thermage® is one of the newer treatments available to consumers looking to reduce signs of aging. It is used to tighten the skin and increase Collagen production in order to reduce skin aging. We will take an in-depth look at Thermage® to see how it works, what it costs and what its level of effectiveness may be.

 Procedure at a Glance
Thermage® is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that is performed in a healthcare provider’s office. It is used smooth, tighten and contour skin in order to help create younger looking skin. During the course of this procedure, the ThermaCool® System is used to tighten existing Collagen, while also stimulating new natural Collagen growth. As a side note, this procedure may be used on individuals of all skin types, which is not the case with laser-based treatments. While some individuals see results right away, it may take up to six months to see results, which may be why this procedure has scored poorly on some consumer rating sites and blogs.

 Procedure in Focus
Thermage® works by heating Collagen fibers in the lower layers of the dermis and the underlying tissue. However, the top layers of users skin is protected by a cooling spray, which means that for the most part, users don’t have any down time due to skin damage. The healthcare provider or technician uses a ThermaTip™ that is a fastened to ThermaCool System’s hand piece to address certain areas. This tip briefly touches the skin, in order to distribute non-invasive capacitive radiofrequency energy, which in turn heats the underlying tissues. This mechanism causes the structures in the skin and tissues to tighten while healing from the microscopic dermal and sub dermal lesions that are caused by this procedure.

 Studies
This procedure uses radiofrequency skin tightening technology, which is akin to microwave technology. While it has been approved by the FDA, they mainly approve medical devices based upon safety issues in contrast to drugs, which are approved based upon safety and effectiveness. This is a really important issue, and one that may account for the poor ratings consumers have given this procedure. Also, very few clinical studies have been performed on Thermage®, and the ones that have been conducted were sponsored by its manufacturer, which increases the risk of biased results.

According to our research, this procedure has been scored poorly on some consumer-driven rating sites due to issues with its cost, results and after procedure pain. Some users reported that the procedure was painful, but the literature suggests that pain is limited for this procedure. However, we have seen this complaint voiced many times on different sites. Some users also reported that they did not see results right away, and that even after the 3-month waiting period, the results they received were limited. Thermage® is a rather pricy procedure, which may cost as much as $2,712, depending upon where you live and which healthcare provider you choose, so it is no wonder that many complained of its high price tag.

 Positives
• May reduce sagging, fine lines and wrinkles

 Negatives
• Has not been shown to be effective in independent studies
• Some users report inconsistent results
• Procedure seems to be quite expensive

 Final Thoughts
Some consumers really prefer to use procedures, like Thermage®, to increase Collagen production, as well as reduce wrinkles, crinkles and fine lines. While people may often think that these procedures are a sure thing that is not always the case. Some consumers who have used this procedure report that they found the results to be inconsistent and the post procedure pain to be problematic. It is also a costly procedure, which other consumers found to be prohibitive. After reviewing this procedure, and the fact that its effectiveness is not supported by independent research studies, we can understand why it scored so poorly, and we actually tend to agree with these findings. We believe that consumers may be able to get better results at a much more affordable price by looking into an advanced skincare cream. We have found that some of the best products out there contain proven ingredients like Matrixyl 3000® and Hyaluronic Acid, as they have been proven to be safe and effective.
